Managing Partner  


Brandon A. Blake

Brandon A. Blake has practiced entertainment law in Los Angeles for the past eight years with the law firm BLAKE & WANG P.A. From a big firm background, his practice includes work exclusively for entertainment clientele in contract, corporate, distribution and financing, music, and packaging. Mr. Blake represents Academy Award, Emmy Award, and Grammy Award recognized producers, directors and artists and negotiates major motion picture distribution deals.

Attorney Experience

Currently in production, Mr. Blake is producing "The Presence" with Daniel Myrick, director of "The Blair Witch Project," and is representing "Winning Sounds Like This" with executive producer Garry Marshall and director Tom Hines (2008 Sundance Film Festival Nominee for "Chronic Town"). A small sample of completed projects represented by Mr. Blake include “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” (2007) with Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, and Marisa Tomei, “The Babysitters” (2007) with John Leguizamo and Cynthia Nixon, “American East” (2007) with Tony Shalhoub, and “Richard III” (2007) with David Carradine and Danny Trejo, among many other notable projects. As an entertainment lawyer, Mr. Blake represents writers and animators of some of the best know works in the world, including the Bill Peet Estate (Creator of "One Hundred and One Dalmatians" and "Dumbo") and graphic novelist Mark Kalesniko (writer of "Mail Order Bride").

As a producers rep Mr. Blake represents films at major markets including the Cannes Film Festival, Sundance, FILMART in Hong Kong, and AFM. Most recently, Mr. Blake represented five feature films at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival, including the Venice Film Festival Official Selection “Karoy: Revenge And Redemption.” As legal representative of the distribution company Magnepix, Mr. Blake is helping to expand distribution options for American filmmakers.

Attorney Distinctions

Mr. Blake attended The University of Texas School of Law, ranked one of the ten best law schools in the country, and acquired a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree. While in law school, Mr. Blake served as the editor-in-chief of the Texas Review of Entertainment & Sports Law and received the prestigious Kae L. Brockermeyer Endowed Presidential Scholarship In Law.

He has earned numerous distinctions as an entertainment lawyer, including serving as a legal advisor for Film Independent (formerly IFP/ LA). He is also the lawyer for the Annual Hollywood Seminar, now in its 19th year, which serves as a gathering of industry professionals and leaders. In the area of authorship, Mr. Blake has published articles on the entertainment industry in publications such as Indie Slate, FilmMaker Magazine, the Film & Television Law Quarterly, The Review of Entertainment and Sports Law, and LEGAmedia. Mr. Blake has developed a strong network of partners in the entertainment and legal community. Mr. Blake is an active member of the American Bar Association, the Beverly Hills Bar Association Business Law and Entertainment Law sections, the State Bar of California Business Law and Entertainment Law sections, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association. As a community leader and supporter of charitable outreach, Mr. Blake provides services to California Lawyers for the Arts, the College Legal Clinic, Film Independent (formerly IFP/ LA), the Hollywood Seminar, and is an active board member of the Los Angeles Texas Exes. Additionally, Mr. Blake has served on the Beverly Hills Bar Association Citizens Law School Committee, Minority and Diversity Committee, Women in the Legal Profession, and the Barristers Committee for the Arts (CFTA).
